Although I'm not an expert, I can vouch that Mr Noodles on George St Dunedin does a fantastic hand pulled spicy beef noodle soup which I think is similar to the Lanzhou style of the dish....
I have visited Mr Noodles a couple of times, must try them again when I get back to see how they compare with what I have found in China (after Lanzhou, I do have lotsa noodles!).
